How We Met

Amanda and Dylan met at Providence College. They were both members of the touring choir, but did not meet until the group took a trip to Lake Placid, NY in January of 2006.

Dylan, a freshman, had noticed Amanda, a sophomore, during the fall semester, but was too chicken to ask her out.  During the trip to Lake Placid, Dylan and Amanda were formally introduced to each other by Amanda's close friend, Alicia, at a party in the hotel.  Doing what college students do, libations were flowing and games ensued.  A tournament soon followed, and Dylan and Amanda found themselves partnered up for the festivities.  They, of course, dominated since half the team was sober.  After kicking some serious choir butt, Dylan walked Amanda across the hall that night to her hotel room, and said goodnight.

The next night, the tournament resumed, and Amanda and Dylan resumed their domination.  They won all their games again.  After the party ended, Dylan and Amanda enjoyed each other's company in the hallway as they talked and got to know each other better.  They talked all night, lost track of time, and didn't make it to bed until 7am.  They needed to be on the bus by 8:30, by the way.
Dylan and Amanda sat with each other on the bus ride home from Lake Placid.  Aside from the short stop for lunch, Amanda slept on Dylan's shoulder the whole time.  They parted ways when the bus arrived back on campus.

That night, Dylan messaged Amanda, asking if he could come over.  Dylan came to Amanda's dorm room for the first time, met her roommates, and hung out for a bit.  The next day was the first day of classes for the semester.  Since they both needed to focus on classes, he invited her to a party on Friday night at a mutual friend's apartment. Despite being a total party-pooper, Amanda said that she would go.

That Friday night, January 20, 2006, Dylan and Amanda matched up again in another tournament with their friends.  When they lost after their third consecutive game, they went into the living room and Dylan asked her to be his girlfriend.  WINNING!

PS: That whole focusing on classes thing?  Never happened again!
