Dylan and Amanda moved back to Rhode Island, from Indiana, at the end of July 2011. The trip took 7 hours longer than expected, and, since they were so tired from driving through the night, they decided to relax for the evening and unpack the moving truck the next day.
The next morning, Dylan and Amanda unpacked the moving truck with the help of Dylan's parents and Amanda's mom - who was gracious enough to fly to Indiana, help pack the truck, drive all the way to RI, and then help unpack, too. After successfully unpacking, everyone got cleaned up and ready for that night's dinner with Amanda's godfather and his husband.
Dylan asked Amanda if she wanted to go watch their first sunset at the house down by the river. So, they took a walk down to the water to watch the sunset.
Amanda was so excited to be there and wouldn't stop moving around - she wasn't cooperating. Dylan finally got Amanda to stand still and look away. When she turned back around, Dylan was on one knee with the ring in hand. Then he said "Amanda, will you marry me?"
Amanda was shocked, cried, hugged him and said, "Yes!" Dylan took the ring out of the box and placed it on Amanda's finger. They hugged again, Amanda cried some more, and they spent a few minutes down by the water together before going up to the house to share the news with their parents and call their family and friends.
